Digital Imaging
There are three primary methods of acquiring digital images: scanning, digital photography, and digital videography. Scanning is the most common (and most preferred) method when it comes to important, detailed documents because of its capability of rendering high-resolution images suitable for significant enlargement or printing. Scanners come in all price ranges from consumer desktop models all the way up to large format floor machines. Digital photography and videography are useful for procuring images of larger entities (such as people), or as a secondary method when an artifact simply won’t lend itself to scanning (such as a fragile bound book). Using your equipment or ours, we can relieve you of the tedious, sometimes confusing (yet vitally important) task or acquiring images of your important artifacts. For those who would prefer performing the work themselves, we can also provide professional instruction as to the options and methodologies best suited to the project. As opposed to large boxes and file cabinets of fragile paper subject to all sorts of threatening elements, modern digital storage technologies offer low-cost, reliable, secure solutions which we would be happy to detail for you.
